Prepare Classic Iowa Comfort Food with Italian Flair!

“So good!” is what you’ll hear from you family and friends, and “so easy” is what you’ll think when you learn to make soul-soothing Iowa comfort foods with an Italian twist.

Join Alessandra Meschini and Iowa native Darcy Dougherty Maulsby, author of the new book “A Culinary History of Iowa,” for this fun, two-hour cooking class and program. Darcy will serve up Iowa’s tastiest traditions, including the story behind Graziano Brothers’ famous hand-made Italian sausage, along with her recipe for Slow Cooker Spaghetti Sauce. Made with Graziano Brothers’ sausage, this versatile dish is a perfect fit with lasagna, cavatelli and more.

As Darcy shares more tidbits of Iowa’s delectable cuisine, which is grounded in the Midwest’s rich farming heritage and spiced with diverse ethnic influences, Alessandra will prepare more comfort food favorites, including Classic Meatloaf and Italian Apple Cake.

This fun, interactive class is $89 (includes a signed copy of “A Culinary History of Iowa” book), or $65 (no book included).

An online payment or gift certificate is require to book a class and your booking must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

All classes are held in Alessandra's kitchen at 333 E. Grand Ave., Loft 103, Des Moines, IA 50309.
